Product Illustration

Cerkl Broadcast Software Visuals

Cerkl Broadcast’s product illustration system was created to make the software’s features & functionalities easy to see and understand. This was achieved by taking pieces of the product UI and marrying it with more abstract concepts of how Broadcast features are used.

These images were primarily created to use on cerkl.com, but they also serve as great visuals in other marketing materials like presentation decks, collateral, social posts, and more.

Why not use real product screens?

The previous version of Cerkl Broadcast’s website relied on real product screens to show off the software’s features. While this approach did manage to highlight the product’s key features, the important details were often lost and difficult to read in image format. To overcome this problem, a new marketing strategy was devised for showcasing the product.

The new strategy aimed to:

  1. Increase understanding of product functions.

  2. Simplify UI and abstract product design elements to bring focus to key features.

  3. Create more evergreen image assets as the product UI continued to improve.

Design process

During the initial phase of this project, I conducted research on how other software companies presented their products on their websites and marketing materials. This helped me get an idea of what other businesses in the same industry were doing. Once I got a clear picture, I began to create rough sketches based on the existing Broadcast product screens and features.

After sketching by hand, I used Illustrator to develop a cohesive illustration system using common design elements and abstracted product UI.

Design System Elements

Common design elements used across Cerkl Broadcast’s product visuals. Intended to be a starting point for new images, these elements allow designs to be flexible while still appearing as a system.
