Cerkl Broadcast Product Features

As part of a new marketing initiative to re-position Cerkl Broadcast as an internal communications platform, I helped design and develop a logo system for Broadcast’s primary features and integrations. This new system was designed to work alongside Broadcast’s current branding and reinforce the new direction.

Design Problem

Cerkl Broadcast has a large range of features that make internal communications easy and effective. The current branding does not well-position Broadcast as a flexible, multi-channel platform for internal comms.

Design icons for Broadcast’s primary features and integrations to create a logo system that aligns with the company’s goals and branding.

Design Process

Hand Sketches

Starting the ideation process, I began by creating rough hand sketches of icons to represent different features. I explored various ways to illustrate the features using different visuals and also looked for opportunities to use similar shapes and elements across the system.

Digital Sketches

Bringing my ideas into Illustrator, I experimented with shape, color and level of detail to decide on the best visual concept to represent each feature.

Design Refinement

I improved my initial digital concepts and narrowed down the icon designs to four different styles. I presented these styles to the marketing director and suggested different options for bounding shapes and color application. The main objective was to determine which direction we should move forward with.

Final Icon Set

The final icon set for Cerkl Broadcast’s features had a simple design consisting of segmented shapes filled with a single color. All icons used a concentric circle element that connected them to the company name (pronounced ‘circle’) and related to the Broadcast symbol. This element tied the set together and gave them a cohesive look.

Logo Lockups

In order to incorporate the new icons into marketing materials and on cerkl.com, they were arranged with the Cerkl and Broadcast logos in various orientations. Guidelines were also created to assist users in determining which version of a Broadcast Product lockup they should use.
